Excellence in Teaching and Learning The district will coordinate the development of a system to assess outcomes of our educational programs and services for continued improvement at the respective colleges and centers. Co-Chairs: Kim Perry, Maggie Taylor Progress Report Date: Fall 2005 Objective 1.1 Provide staff develop-ment and training workshops that assist faculty, adminis-trators, and staff in the development and implementation of a student learning outcomes assessment plan for the colleges/centers. Activities/Progress Fresno City College’s Summer Technology Institute (2004) hosted a workshop on SLO’s presented by Carol Schaafsma from Linn-Bentol College, Oregon. The workshop, held on May 27, 2004, was attended by 74 people. Fresno City College Curriculum web site has added a link for faculty developing SLO's. http://online.fresnocitycollege.edu/senate/curriculum/ Fall 2004 Fresno City College Curriculum cycle, over 350 courses were rewritten using SLO’s. Key Performance Indicators 1.1.1The data/evidence collected during the 2004-05 Accreditation process will be used by each campus to develop and begin implementation of a student learning outcome and assessment plan. 1.1.2 The elements of each campus’ plan will include course, program and institutional level student learning outcomes; staff development, including adjunct faculty; identification of funding and additional resources; and a system of assessment. Reedley College’ Strategic Plan defines the process by which course and program level student learning outcomes will be implemented. Reedley College’s Curriculum Handbook has been revised to include a revised Course Outline form which includes the identification of learning outcomes for each course. Reedley College’s Program Review Handbook is being revised to incorporate program-level student learning outcomes. Fresno City College has implemented a plan to add student learning outcomes to each course. The process for developing program and college SLO’s is being developed. 1.1.3 The Student Learning Outcome Implementation Plan is contained within each campus’ Strategic Plan . 1.2 Initiate the develop-ment of professional enrichment activities that support innovative teaching methodologies that address outcome-based teaching and learning. Activities/Progress Stevie Daniels, the Academic Computing Coordinator at Fresno City College, offers workshops, flex-day activities, one-to-one training sessions, and intensive summer technology institutes to improve best practices in teaching and online instruction. During the Fall 2004 semester, roughly 80 people have attended training. http://online.fresnocitycollege.edu/tlc/ At Fresno City College 119 full-time and adjunct faculty attended the Summer Technology Institute of 2004 with 66 workshops and 4 keynote speakers were offered. Reedley College Academic Senate has designated Release Time for a Vice President Business/Staff Development Key Performance Indicators 1.2.1 The faculty contract allows for flexible flex days. 1.2.2 Resources, both funding and personnel, will be provided for professional development activities. Title V Cooperative Learning Grant designates monies for faculty development. 1.2.3 Faculty and staff demonstrating effective teaching methodologies will be identified and shared through workshops and flex days.
